The Surge of Global Prayer

Recently in our staff meeting our director, Mike Bickle, shared an inspiring story.  We wanted to pass it on to you to be encouraged with the glimpse of the prayer movement God is building globally. We see this movement one of the things God is doing to prepared for the Great Harvest of souls before His return.  Every year, Mike meets with some of the largest church or mission organization’s senior leaders in the world.  Each senior leader must commit to attend this conference every year after they are invited to join.  The focus is relationship building and they also share what they see the Lord doing in their region around the globe.

In the most recent gathering, Mike happened to strike up a conversation with a Rwandan pastor. This man’s story is remarkable. As you may recall, in the early 90’s Rwanda suffered a horrible genocide of up to one million lives. Thousands of Rwandans fled to neighboring African countries to escape the slaughter.  During that time, God spoke to this Rwandan man, who had safely fled to Congo.  God told him to go back into Rwanda and start a church there. He left his parents and planted a church there much to his family’s reservation.  Several years later, God gave him a powerful dream where He commanded him to “do prayer in the spirit of the Tabernacle of David” (1 Chron. 16.1, 4, 37; 28:11-19; 2 Chron. 29:25).  This means to offer unceasing worship and prayer before God (Rev. 4:8-9 ). That was in the year 2000, one year after IHOPKC started 24/7 worship and prayer out of Kansas City!  Since then, they have held 24/7 worship. They have a church of 20,00 to 30,000 people with about two to three thousand engaged in ongoing prayer services.  Also as he was sharing, a pastor from the largest church in Sri Lanka said they also were recently told by God to do 24/7 prayer.  And a senior pastor from India with a 60,000 member church told them they were making plans to do so as well.  These four men from the US, Rwanda, Sri Lanka and India all heard from the Holy Spirit to do this separately. From these stories it is quite clear that God is building prayer and worship in the earth. All these prayers will precipitate God’s activity at the end of this age. This isn’t a fancy plan a man has come up with but something the Lord is directing.  Friends, we are living in dynamic times.

“All this,” said David, “the LORD made me understand in writing, by His hand upon me, all the works of these plans.” (1Chron.28:19) [This included the designs of the temple and plans for instituting paid singers and musicians who would minister before the Lord.]

They brought the ark…and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David erected for it. 4 He appointed Levites [singers] to minister before the ark…to praise the Lord…37 to minister before the ark regularly, as every day’s work required… (1 Chr. 16:1, 4, 37)

Thank you for your partnership. You are sowing into a ministry the Lord is establishing across the earth.
