Completing the Great Commission – A Reality in our Lifetime

Recently, I wrote a monthly newsletter about how God stirred me as I listened to mission leaders from around the world all say the same thing: the Great Commission will be completed SOON. I was struck as I heard about the final push, the final strategies being released for reaching EVERY UNREACHED group on the earth. These are important times. I want to write in more depth about what I heard that night to encourage you. If I can just relay a fragment of what was shared, I believe it will stir you with a perspectiveof what God is doing and the implications of it being accomplished.

One of the biggest things that struck me during the session was when the Western Church mission leaders prayed for and committed to support leaders from the underground church in China who came to this summit for assistance. Many of these Chinese leaders had been in prison for decades. These Chinese Church leaders had been given a mandate from the Holy Spirit the past few decades and that is to send out 1 million missionaries heading West through the countries in between China and Jerusalem. They plan on doing this in the next forty years. This biggest mission force in Church history will traverse through the Buddhist, Hindu, and Muslim world preaching the gospel in every town to
reach the unreached groups and carrying out the Great Commission. Leaders of Campus Crusade, Jesus Film, Wycliffe Bible Translators, Operation Mobilization, YWAM, IHOP, etc… chose to support in numerous ways representative from the Church in China and their mandate from God. These are exciting times!

Here were some highlights:

Chinese Church Leaders (Back to Jerusalem Movement):
Feel led by the Holy Spirit to send 1 million missionaries back to Jerusalem heading west from China in the next forty years. They will preach and plant churches in every town heading west on the way back. As the gospel came west when Paul was diverted by the Holy Spirit to not go into Asia, it will keep going west and complete a full circle “back to Jerusalem” as it circles the globe. God has seasoned the Chinese Church with persecution and hardship the past four decades. They are ready for this task! Western Mission leaders have promised to support them with resources, experience, finances, and materials to do this.

The Korean Church has 20,000 missionaries presently and has committed a total number of 100,000. They will work with and help train Chinese missionaries as God directs along with the other calls God has given them.

Jesus Film reported:

  • 6.5 exposures to the gospel
  • 230 million decisions for Christ
  • Only film on the earth that has been shown in every country. (The Lion King by Disney is runner up).
  • Recently committed to help the Chinese church with a film prepared in every
  • language they encounter as they go back to Jerusalem through the Buddhist,
  • Hindu and Muslim people groups.

Wycliffe Bible Translators  estimate that with technology now, they can get the most important sections of the Bible translated in two years in a new language. It is enough to plant a church. By 2025 a Bible translation project will have been started in every language for every person on the earth to have access. They intend to have Scriptures ready for the Chinese missionaries when they traverse west.

International House of Prayer: desires to plant houses of prayer in every region and in every language for prayers to be released to God for His kingdom to come on earth. They want to commit to cover every missionary we can send out on the field.

So small picture, for those of you on my team with me in prayer and giving: Brian Beeson as an intercessory missionary. I am one musician, one intercessor in the House of Prayer, ministering to God, praying for the nations and America. I am in a season of training UNTO a time of release where God will send me to help plant and strengthen houses of prayer. These houses of prayer will saturate a region in prayer so that the Church can be strengthened in that area and the gospel can be preached more effectively with signs and wonders.

[featured]Great Commission and Jesus’ Return: How are they connected in the Bible?[/featured]

Where do I get this idea that Jesus will come when we complete with Him the Great Commission? Let’s look at the Bible. Jesus says that the end of this period of human history will come when every nation hears and responds to the message about Him: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14) In the meantime we are to carry out his commission by preaching, training others in the knowledge of God and baptizing them into His body.

Presently, we are in the times of the Gentile nations. Jesus says: “And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.” (Luke 21:24). This period will be fulfilled when all gentile nations are reached. Paul highlighted that there is a specific number of Gentile believers God is waiting to come into his Kingdom. When they come in, then it will be time Israel’s salvation. He said: “For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved…” (Romans 11:25-26) This final push of missions and prayer together is a part of bringing the reality of “the fullness of the

Gentiles” to completion. Who knows how long it will take but we are nearing the end. Upon its completion, we will see the Lord Jesus return (Matthew 24:14) and all Israel saved (Romans 11:26). It is in this context that the congress at Kansas City really struck me. Hearing leaders from various nations sharing resources, sharing vision on how to carry out making the gospel accessible to everyone in the next decade excited me. From this standpoint, it would not be too ludicrous to say these are the final generations of people on the earth before the Lord returns.

How can we respond? Well, personally, I am recommitting to give to organizations that are carrying this mission out. Many of them are found on the call2all.org website. The leaders from these organizations met with representatives from 150 countries this past week. They are bringing the Body of Christ together. Also, I am recommitting to fast and pray over this issue. How about you? How are you feeling led to cooperate with this move in your family, neighborhood, area of finances, lifestyle? What is God saying to you?
