BIO / 簡介

Brian (B.A., Wheaton College; M.A.T., Lee University) is a fourth-generation pastor and missionary with a background in pastoral ministry, education, and cross-cultural discipleship. He has served as an English teacher in both China and the United States and as a local pastor before transitioning into full-time missions. Brian and his wife, Joannie, serve with Modern Day Missions and now lead Flourish, an online training initiative serving the Chinese-speaking world.

For more than a decade, Brian trained believers in prayer, spiritual formation, and the message of Jesus’ return through his work with the International House of Prayer University, ministry in Vineyard USA contexts, and itinerant teaching across North America and Asia. This experience shapes his current focus on equipping individuals and communities to flourish spiritually and emotionally through heart-focused discipleship, prayer, and leadership development.

Joannie (BPME, University of Taipei; MMEd, University of Missouri–Kansas City) is a worship leader, pianist, and educator with extensive experience developing prayer-centered worship teams in the context of the International House of Prayer Kansas City. She has taught piano and music theory, led Mandarin-language worship training, and helped establish harp and bowl prayer teams in Chinese-speaking settings. Her passion is to cultivate worship that strengthens intimacy with Jesus and builds healthy prayer communities.

Together, Brian and Joannie now lead Flourish, which equips individuals and communities—particularly in the Chinese-speaking world—through heart-focused discipleship, listening prayer, leadership development, and worship-based formation. Their work integrates biblical teaching, relational maturity, and spiritual formation to help believers grow in resilience, identity, and lifelong devotion to Jesus.

Brian and Joannie have been married since 2013 and have three children.

Brian(文學士,Wheaton College;教育碩士,Lee University)是第四代牧者與宣教士,具備牧會事奉、教育以及跨文化門徒訓練的背景。

Joannie(音樂教育學士,University of Taipei;音樂教育碩士,University of Missouri–Kansas City)是一位敬拜帶領者、鋼琴家與教育者,在 International House of Prayer Kansas City 的背景下,擁有建立以禱告為中心之敬拜團隊的豐富經驗。

 Brief Testimony /

Several times in my childhood, the Lord met me in ways that profoundly marked my life. As I look back, I am deeply grateful for His faithful pursuit of me. I grew up in a family that valued both faith and service. My father was a cardiologist and church planter whose life of faith and friendship deeply impacted me. My grandfather served as a medical missionary in Kenya in the 1950s, and my great-grandfather was an itinerant preacher. Yet, despite this strong spiritual heritage, there were also broken areas within our family that shaped my journey.

In 2008, I entered youth ministry. Shortly after, I encountered significant personal struggles, including generational issues and deep internal battles that threatened both my productivity and my well-being. During this time, the Lord began to meet me through listening prayer with trusted friends. As we sat with the Holy Spirit, He brought healing, identity, and understanding through impressions, pictures, and Scripture. These encounter-based prayer times became foundational in my walk with Him.

As God worked in my life, we began seeing Him move powerfully among the youth I was serving. Students experienced freedom, renewed passion for Jesus, and hunger for prayer and worship. We spent extended hours in worship, practiced listening prayer, and studied Jesus’ teachings—especially the Sermon on the Mount. Many encountered the Lord personally as we created space for Him to move.

In 2011, the Lord called me to step away from pastoral ministry and devote myself more fully to prayer and training. I moved to Kansas City to pursue this calling, where I met my wife, Joannie. We quickly connected through a shared passion for prayer, discipleship, and the nations.

In 2012, through a series of events, the Lord revealed that I was an SRA/DID survivor from abuse that had occurred early in my childhood. This discovery helped make sense of many experiences I had struggled to understand. The Lord brought key friendships and healing ministries alongside me, including Restoration in Christ Ministries and Seek First Ministries. Through years of prayer counseling, listening prayer, and community, Jesus brought increasing wholeness and integration in my life. During this season, He also helped me grow into marriage, family life, and greater stability as more parts of my life came into alignment with His design.

Around 2020, this focused season of healing began to transition. Through what the Lord had done in me, He began highlighting a deep need in the Body of Christ: heart-focused discipleship. Many believers were active in ministry yet lacked emotional maturity, relational resilience, and deep security in God’s love. My wife and I sensed a call not only to train people in worship and sound biblical teaching, but also to help them grow in wholeness through listening prayer, spiritual warfare, inner healing, and internal synchronization as they meet with Jesus.

We long to see people built up—not only ministries running. Our desire is to see workers for Jesus who are joyful, resilient, mature, and confident in how deeply God loves them. Out of this vision, we launched Flourish Online School, which now serves Chinese-speaking individuals and communities across Asia. Through heart-focused discipleship, listening prayer, and leadership development, we help believers grow in spiritual and emotional maturity so they can sustain lifelong ministry rooted in intimacy with Jesus.

Today, from Taiwan and across Asia, we continue to serve the Body of Christ—equipping individuals and communities to flourish in love, maturity, and wholehearted devotion to Jesus.

主帶來關鍵的友誼與醫治事工陪伴我,包括 Restoration in Christ Ministries 與 Seek First Ministries。
